Svalbard or Spitsbergen is a Norwegian
archipelago in the Arctic Ocean.
Located on top of the world, it contains endless areas of unspoilt, raw Arctic wilderness.
Svalbard consists of all the islands, islets and skerries.
In Grønfjorden, a fjord to the west of the larger Isfjorden in Svalbard, the mining community Barentsburg lies. Barentsburg is situated 60km to the west of Longyearbyen and has its own coal-powered power plant, hospital, hotel, school, kindergarten, cultural and sports-facilities...and our Husky Farm!
